Open house discussion on The Digital Personal Data Protection Bill (DPDPB), 2022

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India have issued a draft of The Digital Personal Data Protection Bill (DPDPB), 2022 on 18th November, 2022. This draft will be available for public consultation till 17th Dec 2022.

This new draft is simpler and shorter than the last one with 30 clauses.  Provisions of this bill will be applicable to the processing of digital personal data within the territory of India where such data is collected online or collected offline, but digitized. This is also applicable to the processing of digital personal data outside the territory of India, if that processing is in connection with profiling or offering services or goods to data principles within India. 

However there are many areas with requires clarity in interpretation. DNV is conducting an open forum to discuss the merits and demerits of the new draft bill.
