Industry transition towards Circular Economy through product assurance
Happy World Accreditation Day.
To build a sustainable ecosystem, it is essential to create a balance between the natural resources we use and our steps towards adapting eco-friendly practices. This year’s accreditation day is promoting the value of Accreditation for Sustainability in Economic Growth and the Environment. While working on economic growth it is necessary to formulate the measures for sustainable development and work with a notified body to govern this process.
The linear take-make-waste industrial model is failing as a viable response to rapid population growth, resource constraints, sprawling urbanization, water insecurity and other trends.
Organizations should track down ways of decoupling financial movement from the utilization of limited resources, planning of waste and contamination out of the framework, keep items and materials that are being used and regenerate natural systems.
Transitioning is essential. From digital solutions and standards that ensure traceability to ecosystems incentivizing sustainable behaviour, DNV helps companies build trust and transparency within supply chains and toward consumers.
Sustainability is embedded within the DNV management system, and we seek continual improvement through certification to external standards, such as ISO/ IEC 17020: 2012. DNV Business Assurance India Pvt. Ltd. is an accredited Inspection Body by NABCB under ISO/ IEC 17020: 2012 for aerospace, automotive & railways under IAF 21 & 22 respectively.
In our ViewPoint Survey “Circular Economy. How are companies transitioning” showed that companies focus more on process and product innovation, such as resource recovery (30.3%) or product life extension (39.6%). Fewer have moved into more advanced business models innovations such as product as a service (17.6%) and sharing platforms (12.5%). Most companies experience cost savings (57.2%) as a main benefit, which is not surprising given the focus on existing processes and products.
Working to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals:
DNV works closely with customers, industry associations and international organizations such as the UN Global Compact and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development in pursuit of change to a more sustainable world.
We are a resolute supporter of the SDGs. Through our business activities we contribute to the SDGs, with a particular focus on Goals 3, 7, 13 and 14, areas where we believe we can contribute most.
