DNV GL Business Assurance conducts the first PCQI training in India subcontinent

DNV GL is the first certification body in India to have successfully conducted the 1st training program on FSPCA approved 'Preventive Control Quality Individual' (PCQI) in Indian subcontinent on 8th - 10th Aug (20 hrs) at Mumbai

With the new Food Safety Modernization Act, USA, it is now mandatory for organizations who export food products to the United States of America to have an Approved Food Safety Plan which is to be drafted and prepared by a Preventive Control Quality Individual (PCQI). This training program, developed by FSPCA (Food Safety Preventive Control Alliance), is the 'standardized curriculum' recognized by FDA; successfully completing this course, is one way to meet the requirements for a 'Preventive Controls Qualified Individual'.

Head of Food and beverage in DNV GL Business Assurance India, Chinmayee Deulgaonkar, explains that “The training does not just bring out the business opportunity alone, but gives a message in the market that DNV GL is highly proactive and constantly moving forward to pursuit compliances required by food & beverage industry” She also added that “We are looking for association with other governmental/non-profit agencies to roll out this program.”

ABOUT THE TRAINING 

The training was a massive success attended by over 30 professionals from the food and beverage industry. The program was conducted by DNV GL Business Assurance and supported by Association of Food Scientist & Technologist (AFSTI), Mumbai Chapter with Lead Auditor of DNV GL Mr. Jevanand Rajaram as the trainer. 

Dr. Prabodh Halde, president of the AFSTI, Mumbai chapter expressed his appreciation and said the training was an “excellent initiative from DNV GL. We propose to get further associated with DNV GL”. 

The course content includes Introduction to Code of Federal Regulations (CFR 21, 117), Current Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety Plan overview as per FSMA, Hazard analysis and preventive control identification etc. The training combines interactive exercises along with classroom sessions. Conducted over 3 days, the participants have the opportunity for individual engagement with the trainer and co-participants. 

Over the next few months, over 5 more PCQI training programs have been planned and scheduled across various locations in India.
