DNV Software is pleased to welcome you to a seminar on Nauticus Machinery software for design and analysis of rotating propulsion machinery. The seminar will take place at the DNV office in Kobe, Japan on 14th October 2011.

We will show our cutting edge software for shaft alignment and torsional vibration analysis, which allows users to analyse and ensure that bearing loads and vibratory levels are within acceptable limits. The seminar is in cooperation between DNV Software and DNV Technical Advisory Services Ships and will cover live software demonstrations as well as typical damage cases and practical usage from the industry.

The seminar will focus on our new state-of-the-art software tool for steady state torsional vibration analysis, Nauticus Torsional Vibration v10.0. The preliminary agenda includes the following topics:

PRELIMINARY AGENDA

¤Introduction to DNV Software and Nauticus Machinery
¤Torsional vibrations in marine propulsion systems: Diesel-engine crankshaft fracture; a practical use of torsional vibration calculation methodology for root-cause failure investigation of a generator set
¤Demonstration of Nauticus Torsional Vibration v10.0
Mass elastic modeller, modelling single- and dual engine systems, analysis, results, and powerful scripting capabilities.
¤Shaft alignment of marine propulsion systems: Why do we do shaft alignment? Consequences of incorrect shaft alignment. Motivation for increasing the knowledge. Shaft alignment principles.
¤Demonstration of basic features in Nauticus Shaft Alignment v10.0

Who should attend:
The seminar is free of charge (including lunch) and open to all with an interest in design and analysis of marine propulsion systems.
