A customised two day in-house course on Hull Structure for Bulk carriers was recently run for technical personnel of the world's leading ship operator, Gearbulk.

The comprehensive two day Hull structure for Bulk carrier’s course which was recently carried out in Mumbai included elaborate discussions and brainstorming sessions about ship hull structures, bulk carrier structures, and hull functions. “The basic expectation from the course was to equip participants with knowledge on the basic hull strength…essentially to train them perform a better hull survey of bulk carriers," says N. Venkateswaran, DNV Academy Manager (India).

Lead by Maritime India's Lead Tutor, S. P. Raju Mudunuri the course was well received by Ship superintendents, Captains, Chief Engineers, and Chief Officers of the Indian branch of Gearbulk, who attended the course with great enthusiasm and active participation.

Happy with the glowing response and constructive feedback received from participants, Raju Mudunuri said that, "This is the first time local tutors have carried out the Hull Structure for Bulk carriers course for technical personnel from Gearbulk," adding, "Previously the same course was delivered by experts from our DNV Norway office. And this year, the customer chose local competent tutors to coach their technical personnel...certainly giving us an opportunity to do some good work with them in future."

“DNV Academy is valued by the shipping industry for quality and integrity on which we never compromise. We will continue to reach out and grow our capabilities with reputable ship owners…thus consolidating our presence in the shipping market and expand to be one of the target players in the training segment,” says N. Venkateswaran.
