First+BCM+seminar+kicks+off+in+India

DNV kick's off its first Business Continuity Management (BCM) seminar in Bangalore, India and plans to spin out similar workshops across India, to emphasize on the need and advantages of maintaining a robust Business Continuity Management System.

The seminar saw a large turnout of middle and top level managers belonging to well-known organizations from India Inc. “The main aim of the seminar is to discuss the outcome, benefits and business drivers for Business Continuity Management (BCM) system….essentially touching upon the art and science of business continuity management worldwide,” says Nandakumar Shamanna, Zonal Manager (South Zone, India).

The seminar was delivered by Mr. Nandkumar who spoke about the need for BCM and the requirements as per the BCM standard - BS25999. In addition, DNV also invited a guest speaker from Business Continuity Institute (BCI), Mr. Vikrant Varshney who currently Heads Business Continuity Management program for HSBC, who spoke about continued challenges, experience and current trends of BCM worldwide.

Mr. Nandakumar Shamanna, Zonal Manager (South Zone, DNV India) said, "The event generated a great response and this is indeed the first-of-its-kind seminar conducted in India.”

He goes on to say that, “Looking at the constructive and valuable feedback that we received….we plan to roll-out similar workshops across the length and breadth of India to increase awareness about business continuity and highlight upon the urgent need for organisations to prepare and protect themselves from the impact of business interruptions.”
